As a result of the far-sightedness and direction of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, the architect of Bangladesh, in August 1974, four statistical offices under various ministries (Bureau of Statistics under the Ministry of Planning, Bureau of Agricultural Statistics under the Ministry of Agriculture and Agricultural Census Commission and Ministry of Home Affairs) was created by merging the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
